The Bishop of Leeds, The Rt. Rev’d Nicholas Baines, was pleased to announce that the Rev’d Peter Mullins, currently serving as Team Rector of Great and Little Coates with Bradley (West Grimsby Team Ministry), has been appointed as Incumbent of Haworth and Cross Roads in the Bradford Episcopal Area. The date of the Licensing Service will be announced soon.
The appointment was announced to the congregations of St Michaels and All Angels, Haworth; St Gabriel’s, Stanbury and St James’, Cross Roads yesterday (Sunday).
He will replace the Rev’d Peter Mayo-Smith who has taken up a new ministry in the Parish of Eldwick.
Peter and Deborah Mullins said they had a peculiar and sad morning yesterday telling the people in the churches where he serves at the moment that they will be leaving soon but they are looking forward hugely to moving to Haworth and Cross Roads to begin the new ministry to which he is being called.
They say the way St Gabriel’s focusses some of the social life of Stanbury; St Michael’s responds to the tourist life of Haworth and St James’ offers outreach opportunities at Cross Roads are among the many things they say attracted them to the idea of ministering here alongside Rev’d Julie Roberts, Rev’d Peter Wilson, the lay ministers and the leaders in all three churches.
Peter asked his current congregation: ”Please pray for us in the painful uprooting from here – as we pray for all the people we are about to get to know as we prepare to put down new roots with you and in communities of which you are part.”
