Our Harvest Festival once this year, once more broke with tradition and was centred on raising much needed funds for “Farm Africa”. We have supported this charity since 2012 and in that time we have raised well over £1,000.
The Friday Church children planted beans for their display window and had a sponsored ‘wellie wanging’. More wellies hit Peter than actually landed in the font but a great time was enjoyed by all! The toddler group will be making their contribution next week by throwing wellies into hoops.
We had a good range of window displays by the various groups in Church and some wonderful ‘wellie’ pictures by the rainbows.
Sunday morning saw. a good attendance by the Rainbows, leaders and parents.
Rosanne spoke on the parable of the sower and challenged us to think about what kind of ‘soil’ are hearts are anddo we bother to plant good seeds in them. The rainbows helped to illustrate the need for tools and special seeds for the country in Africa that we are supporting and also took part in the prayers. A wonderful new Rainbow flag was dedicated and carried round church while we sang ‘One more step along the way we go’.
Thanks to all those who have contributed and thanks to Rosanne for visiting the different children’s groups and encouraging us to think of those who live in real poverty.
