On Wednesday 28th June, St James’ hosted the service as the Rev’d Peter Mullins was instituted as Rector of Haworth, Cross Roads and Stanbury  by the Bishop, Right Rev’d Toby Haworth, and inducted by the Archdeacon Very Rev’d. Andrew Jolley. The Dean of Bradford Cathedral (and one of our patrons), Very Rev’d Jerry Lepine, the Area Dean Rev’d Sandra Bentham and Peter Foskitt, the Diocesan Registrar were also present.

Members of the congregation from Cross Roads, Haworth and Stanbury were joined by a large party from Peter’s former parish in Grimsby. As part of the service, he was given “real and actual possession” of the benifice, symbolized by recieving keys and tolling the church bell. Community leaders, Deputy Lieutenants David Pearson and Robin Wright, Councillor Rebecca Poulsen, members of Haworth, Cross Roads and Stanbury Parish Council, a representative of the Bronte Society, local clergy from other denominations and the Scout leaders were introduced to Peter.

The evening concluded with supper provided by people from all three churches.
